Learning to let go...

Having kids certainly does teach you to let go of the unimportant things. Forget about the perfect home free of kid stuff in the living room; good bye floors vacuumed and mopped daily. And the perfectly decorated Christmas tree? I know you not.

I have come to embrace and love our tree of only non-breakables; construction paper and glitter ornaments we crafted, laminated family photos Sophie made with Grandma, a couple dozen wood, metal or paper decorations that won't break when they come crashing down. In four or five more years we can dust of the glittery glass balls and hang them again. Wouldn't trade my kid-friendly tree for any other :)

  1. love your tree. most of our ornaments are packed away too. Only one plastic mickey mouse ornament from my childhood went on the tree from a trip to DisneyLand when I was 12. Put it on the tree knowing Kaleb could not brake it. And he loved it admired it for days then one day is disappeared. didn't count on that only was thinking of ones he could not brake. I was sad for many many days looking and looking. Finally found it yesterday behind a couch cushion and I yelled with delight. now Mickey is safe higher up on the tree.
